Research interests:
Karla Barrens holds a Ph.D. in Information and Knowledge Society and is specialized in urban research, notably in disability studies and sensory studies. This includes phenomenology of urban space, research on popular culture in urban space, research on innovative urban solutions for people with diverse functionality. She has done research stays at Goldsmiths College (University of London) in 2014, and at CRESSON (Grenoble) in 2015. Her teaching activities include sociology, phenomenology, pedagogical dynamics and artistic urban thinking.Researchers projects:
- 2020- present: Researcher at H2020 EU project T-factor (t-factor.eu) funded by the EU. Temporary uses of space in Cities during big developments.
- 2019-present: Researcher and IP at Correlloc project, researching the impact correfocs (fire Catalan popular culture’s typical celebration) have on space’s perception and the making of place.
