María Olga Vallejos Lamig is a Social Worker and Master in Social Work from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, currently a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Barcelona, her research focuses on the understanding of community dynamics in contexts of long-standing socio-environmental conflict, in the case study of Quintero-Puchuncaví, a territory known as a sacrifice zone in Chile. The work analyzes the emergence of community practices, ways of doing and thinking in this particular zone affected by pollution; the information is based on the narratives of the life experiences of its neighbors and activists, paying special attention to its deployment over time. She has previously worked as a researcher and professional at the Public Policy Center of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, collaborating in interdisciplinary projects that promote the link between academia, the public sector, the private sector and civil society.
